Client Testimonial

Hi Ross

I just wanted to send you a little email about my LYB experience so far.

I find it really hard to stick to anything and have zero willpower, I saw your ad on Facebook and thought I’d give it a go, I had nothing to lose but 30 quid and a bit of time.

I was very skeptical at first and didn’t know what to expect from your boot camp, I’ve never been a gym goer only ever joining, going for a week and then giving up an wasting months of membership money!

I really enjoyed my first week with you and your Facebook page gave me inspiration and ideas for eating healthy and from day two I was down the supermarket and completely changed my eating habits.

I suppose I just wanted to say thank you, I know it’s still early days for me and I will have some lows but you have completely changed my lifestyle and I’ve found it so easy with the encouragement messages on Facebook, etc. Even my partner has lost 8lbs!

I think you do a great job and wouldn’t care if you took the sessions in a clowns outfit

Thank you

LYB – We are not a quick fix

I have now been in Business 5 years and my experience is growing by the day.

Its funny how i use to tell people i was part of the fitness industry because i trained people.

Now i don’t see myself as part of the fitness industry at all and prefer to refer to myself as a coach not a trainer.

Yes i still train people, of course i do, however, the coaching that happens away form sessions is where the magic happens.

You see, it does not matter how many times a week you come and train with us, if your diet and lifestyle choices away from sessions are poor, your results will be poor.

As the saying goes

“Abs are made in the kitchen”

This is of course in reference to dropping body fat. The majority of the work is in your diet.

It still amazes me that people think high level results can be achieved in 7 days, 2 weeks, 4 weeks with putting very limited effort in.

It also amazes me how quickly people give up on things

Just this last week somebody who has been training with me for 14 days said

“i will give it another week  otherwise i give up”

Now lets be honest, this attitude will get you nowhere!

Did you start your first ever job and 7 days in have enough money to put a deposit down on a mortgage?

No

It takes time to save

Just like your fitness level takes time to improve, your bodyfat takes time to reduce, your mindset takes time to change, your habits take time to improve

Going back to my initial statement of not being part of the fitness industry

ITS TRUE

I no longer see myself as part of it

Its a horrible industry

Every picture you see in gyms will be someone toned and even with a six pack.

Trainers walk round in tight tops, looking in the mirror all the time instead of focusing on their clients.

I actually spent my first day in the gym lifting weights yesterday for a while and after 30 minutes could not stand to be in there any longer

I don’t like the message the fitness industry portrays

Its all supplements, lycra, six packs and ego’s

It is everything LYB is NOT!

The reason i set LYB up was because i hated this environment, i wanted to give Ladies a place to come and train where they feel part of a group, where they get the support they need away from sessions.

Education is a huge part of the process and this is where coaching comes in.

A plan of action and goals are all important factors in the journey.

Not just turning upto an environment you hate and plodding on the cross trainer for 30 minutes each day!

With the amount of marketing out there on so called quick fixes, its hard to educate people quick enough to see that the long game wins.

However, this is where i see my job now.

I see myself as someone that can educate others through the pressures i used to put on myself to lose weight.

I look back now and realise how much money i wasted on so called fat burning products, shake diets, fad diet clubs and so on all whilst eating junk in the evenings and consuming high mounts of alcohol.

It was only when i found a bootcamp myself and received the correct coaching on long term changes that i actually found weight loss easier and more sustainable.

You need to be prepared to make lifestyle changes or results will not last

You cant crash diet for 3-4 weeks and expect life changing results

Unhealthy Habits need to be replaced by healthier habits

Your negative mindset needs to be replaced with a positive one

Your exercise that you are not enjoying needs to change

Your environment needs to change to a supportive one

How long does all of this take to change

HOW LONG IS A PIECE OF STRING?

Its certainly not days or a few weeks

We have clients that have been with us for 2 years, how do you think their lives have changed?

There are some results to show you at the bottom of the page

However, we have also had clients stay with us just 4 weeks, how do you think there lives have changed?

Probably not that much

You see there is a big difference in the way we consult clients before they come into our program

We have a free phone consultation to make sure your goals align with our coaching

Lets face it, if they dont, you are just going to get frustrated

My coaching skills are Female Weight Loss and Toning and all about provided women with body confidence they have bee craving for years

That wont help someone who is already fit and tones who already trains 3-4 times a week in a gym just looking for a change

People looking for quick fixes will not enjoy our process and generally will not hang around for long and get very frustrated

This frustration lies within

Who is telling you, you can lose a stone on 4 weeks?

Who is telling you you are going to achieve the fitness level you want within 4 weeks?

Once you can answer those questions i would say there lies your answer

For most people its themselves

Do our clients see results over a short period?

YES

But only if the plan works into their lifestyle quickly

Do our clients see results over a longer period of time 3-6 months an beyond

YES

Once again there are many factors in this but its a much better timeframe to work with someone and all comes down to following the guidelines, being held accountable and creating better habits.

Here are some 6-12 month results our clients have achieved

Client 2 client1 Client3 Client4 Client5

Long lasting body transformations take time

When you sign up to a new program just remember you have a history that the program will not be able to fix short term.

If your history involves shake diets, quick fixes, yo yo dieting, low calorie diets or starvation there will ahve been some metabolic damage along the way.

The slower your metabolism the more you are likely to store body fat (i will do a separate post on this)

You have to be prepared to stick at something for a minimum 12-24 weeks (3-6 months) and work with the coach to build new habits that create an overall lifestyle change

Until you are prepared to do this, you will probably keep achieving the results you are achieving now.

If you would like a non salesy free consultation to talk about your current situation or whether we can help you moving forward, please feel free to email me at Ross@liveyoungbootcamp.co.uk

Take care

Ross

July/August Testimonials

Over the last 6 weeks we have seen some amazing results across Live Young Bootcamp clients

Not only is our Free 7 Day Detox becoming popular throughout the UK, our Bootcamp is getting busier and i have even taken on 2 Online Nutrition clients.

Its such a great feeling seeing something you started from scratch 5 years ago really taking off.

Over the next few weeks we will be looking for a female trainer to come on board and we have also started looking at locations for our very own performance facility.

The reason word is spreading?

The results our clients are achieving

You see i can sit here telling you how amazing we are but that useless without showing you a sample of the results.

Below is a summary of some of the results and testimonials we have seen/received on our programs

Susanne Lost 7 Inches in 28 Days as part of an online program with a small amount of home workouts and eat clean food guidelines.

“I’ve spent the last 3 weeks away from home travelling from one end of the country to the other. And in that time I’ve realised how much I’ve accomplished in this program. Not only have I been able to keep up the plan whilst eating out and making picnics (in other people’s kitchens too) but I’ve also managed to do a few boot camp exercises too. But by the far the biggest achievement for me has been driving myself and the kids down to Brighton on my own, and back to Manchester again. This is a big deal for me as 18 months ago I started having panic attacks if I needed to drive somewhere unfamiliar. For me eating clean means so much more than losing weight. My confidence is creeping back up and after a stressful pregnancy with illness and concerns over the baby I am finally starting to feel less anxious and more in control of things. Just wanted to share, as I genuinely think all of that is way more important than how I look. And thank you Ross, once more!!”

Our client lost 3lbs and 7 Inches in 7 days as part of our free online 7 day detox at the start of August. All through clean eating guidelines, no exercise.

13 Days into working online with us, here is what our client had to say (our client still has 14 days left)

“I really do feel like I am smashing it! There is no tummy left for my three year old to ask if I have a baby in it and I have lost a chin! I had real bloating under my chin, as I wasn’t really fat I presumed it was just me. I have had some photo’s taken of me and friends/kids etc at festival and I look like me again! Really – can’t put it into words!

Clothes all have loads of room in to – whoop!

Have a bum and legs again! Weird, as although doesn’t look huge results when written down – what I see (or maybe feel) is enormous! (Maybe some of that is feeling great due to clean eating too!!).

Really – thank you!!”

Our Client lost 4cm’s and 9 cm’s overall in 7 days online on our 7 day free detox

13 Days into working with us, here is some client feedback

“4 1/2 inches lost this week & 2 pounds.
9 inches in total & 7 pounds in 2 weeks.

Ross I am over the moon I’ve been in out of weight watchers for years so completely sucked in to diet culture.
But 1 yr ago now I started eating cleaner but I can honestly say this is the first time I’m not craving crap and sugar & honey & cacao powder with yoghurt & nuts has been a life saviour in my sweet attack moments!

Thanks again for this great programme!

7 days on our Free 7 Day Detox last week and our client lost 8.5 Inches overall!

I have just been judged!

Sometimes being a PT can be a lonely place

A place where everyone looks to you for answers

A place where there is a lot of pressure to deliver results

A place where sometimes people like to put the blame on you for their lack of effort and results

A place where people will unfairly judge you

This morning i had a consultation over the phone with a lady who has just finished her 3 week trial with us at Bootcamp

I was looking forward to speaking with her to discuss how she has found everything and was delighted to hear that she had thoroughly enjoyed the trial

The lady had completed 4 sessions the first 2 weeks and 3 the last week and missed her last session with us this morning.

Its so nice to receive positive feedback from something you have created yourself from nothing

Some thing you put a lot of work into on a daily basis

However, then the call turned

For those that know me, i wear my heart on my sleeve

I am very approachable and always looking to help people on a daily basis

A lo of the time as i put myself second

I enjoy helping

However, in this instance i was speechless

I simply could not believe what this lady said to me

There were 2 things

It went like this

The lady said she had 2 things she wanted to raise with me

1) Im not sure i understand the clothing you wear at sessions. I mean, does a hoodie really make you look fit?

Really!?

After 3 weeks of helping somebody lose some weight, lose some inches, eat better, get a shed load of support in private groups, accountability and a heck of a lot of coaching at sessions i have planned and taken myself

I AM JUDGED ON THE CLOTHING I WEAR!

Considering the lady in question trains very early in the morning, i didnt realise that i was expected to wear t-shirt and shorts when its cold!

In 5 years of doing this job not 1 person has ever judged me on my clothing NOT 1

2) I am a little put off that you do not train with us, all Gym classes i have ever done, the trainer trains with us

Yet again, the lady seems to be comparing herself to me which i really dont understand!?
The reason i dont train with my clients is because i run a coaching programme. A coaching programme that wants to see people training, help them where needed, check form, check that they are ok, watch out for a purple face that might end up throwing up and offer support where needed

All of these things you will not get in a gym class

I am not advertising a gym class so why compare me to one?

The biggest reason i dont train with my clients is to prevent injury.
Imagine if i am training not watching this lady using a kettlebell and her back goes from poor form, where does the blame go?

YEP, ME!

I am my business, i need my business to operate effectively and offer people support that they need, not to show people that im fitter than them.

As someone that has previously battled with his weight and suffered from Anxiety which i still suffer from now i have been left feeling pretty sh*t from these comments

I want to explain something

A PT is someone that helps people exercise safely and effectively
I also think a PT should be able to communicate well and get on easily with people

What they wear or how much they work out has no bearing on their job (well, within reason, they need to be in shape)

I am in good shape, my results with clients speak for themselves and my training is worth every penny i charge

I work hard for all of my clients and i am always looking to improve my service where i can

I also except you cannot please everyone however

The comment about what i wear crossed the line for me

Stop judging people you dont know

Everyone is on a journey and trust me, when you judge them or make a stupid comment IT HURTS AND RUINS THERE DAY

Dont be that person to make the comment

Putting Ourselves First

When was the last time you did something for yourself?

This is a subject i have been speaking to more and more people about recently.

Its something i am pretty poor at and its something that is having a huge impact on my happiness at the moment.

It seems im not on my own

Part of my coaching role is to help people look at there lives differently and help them implement new habits to bring long term happiness through health and fitness.

This is exactly what clean eating is about

Feeling good and comfortable within yourself through the smart choices you are choosing to make

Food really does have that power.

Its been a very busy week once again for new people applying for our help

This has mainly come from our ever growing Bootcamp in Broadstone and Wimborne

However we are no building a fantastic online program that is reaching out to other parts of the UK which is very exciting.

The majority of people when i speak with them during there free consultation have had one thing in common when applying for my program

They want to do something for themselves

I get this, i really do and until you are able to implement some things into your current lifestyle that are seriously just about you, i think deep down you will never truly be happy.

We seek happiness in material things nowadays

We are led to believe that the big car and big house is the true happiness we want

Its not

From my experience of helping a lot of people over the last 5 years is happiness really does come from within

Having that life that you are fully in control of

Having that time to yourself to do something you can enjoy

So let me ask you again

What thing or things do you do on a weekly basis that are just about you?

I had a lady this week decide to not join my program because her friend was not interested

That friend has different beliefs and different needs

That friend didnt apply

That friend is not interested in bootcamp

She was!

Do things for yourself, i guarantee your friends will!

As we get older i think it is the one thing we all start to realise

Everybody looks after number 1

So are you?

I am a Dad to 2 beautiful little girls

One aged 5 and one 2 years and 11 months

I also run my own business where i work very early mornings 3 days a week and evenings 3 times a week on top of Saturday mornings.

My business is very busy which is fantastic and i only have myself to motivate me

This is where i have been struggling recently and it falls back to the title of this post

I have been working long hours

When i dont work im sorting the kids out or looking after them when my wife works
We are not blessed with great options when it comes to babysitters

I have recently been feeling like im burning out

I love my job, i love the people i train, i love my environment

But 2 weeks ago i had a moment

A moment when i realised that i was putting everyone else first in my life and had started to hate my life

Yep, i said it, HATE MY LIFE

How sad is that!

I started putting a lot of pressure on myself and withdrew from the public eye

I was putting a game face on at work, pretending that everything is ok when it wasnt

I was smiling at home but behind those smiles was frustration and a feeling of just wanting to go to sleep

I started questioning what i was doing

Why?

Because i was feeling like i couldnt get away

I couldnt have any time to myself

A feeling that my job was ruling me and it was stressing me out

During this period i lost my cover for work meaning that i only have myself to run my 10 bootcamp sessions a week all whilst having children off on holidays and telling my wife we cant stay over anywhere as i have bootcamp.

How bad is that!?

My wife must have felt amazing!

It was only 12 months ago i had stress and anxiety counselling and i could feel myself going down this route again

So whats changed?

I talked to people in my line of work and got some advice

I spoke to my wife about everything

I got help

Its amazing when you chat to someone how different your life looks

Its amazing the picture you build up in your head is so different to the actual picture around you

You get bogged down and fail to see the light

The biggest thing i did was accept things had to change

and then i changed them!

Its something i am still trying to get right

However, since going self employed i have really struggled to have time off

A lot of things were staring me in the face

I was wasting a lot of my time on social media when i could have been doing something with my kids

Time management is probably the biggest thing i have changed

I was replying to emails and facebook messages as soon as they came in

I was telling myself if i didnt clients would leave because they would hate my service

Now, if an email comes in after 8pm, i pick it up first thing the next morning and enjoy 2 hours with my wife rather than just ignoring her with my head in a laptop

I have 30 minute windows 3 times a day to check my facebook groups and answer any questions

and guess what, NO COMPLAINTS!

The biggest thing i have done this week is tke some time out to be with the people i love

My wife and 2 daughters

Yes i have had to run sessions but i have worked my days out around these sessions

I have had to cancel my Thursday night session this week which i hate doing but as i have no cover i dont have any choice as im in Devon for the day with my family

Man that has dipped into my anxiety but i need this day off and not to rush back for Bootcamp or cut my family day short

Its funny i feel that way as i have only cancelled 2 sessions in the last 9 months.

Its amazing how many PT’s have the same battle, in fact i would go as far as saying how many self employed people feel the same way.

If you are reading this and feel the same way

ITS OK, YOU ARE NOT ALONE

Whilst my main business goal moving forward is to get cover for sessions the bigger goal is to keep doing things each week for me

So i now schedule me time into my week

I plan it and make sure i follow it

It might be a workout
It might be a book
it might some time with my kids

either way its about freshening the mind and putting yourself in the best frame of mind to deliver

What do you do for yourself?

Many of my bootcamp ladies see that as there time

Some time to get away from the hussle and bussle of family life for 45 minutes 2-3 times a week

My PT Clients like that 1-2-1 session, its all about them for 60 minutes focussing on improving themselves

If you dont currently make time for yourself

Ask yourself why?

Then sit down and look at your time and start to see if you can improve the way you send your time

Look for opportunities to fit things in for yourself

It may just 15 minutes a day to squeeze a sit down and a cup of tea in

It maybe freeing up 45 minutes to get to bootcamp

But do it

MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF AND YOU WILL BECOME A HAPPIER PERSON

I PROMISE
